College/University - New York, NY, US
Helene Fuld College of Nursing (HFCN) is working on the forefront of one of the medical profession's most pressing needs: to create a better educated nursing workforce. We know that better health care outcomes are linked to higher nursing education. Founded in 1945, HFCN (a private, nonprofit institution) has been at the forefront of nursing education for over 65 years. Its mission is to provide the opportunity, through a career ladder approach, for individuals to enhance their education and improve their nursing practice. Recognizing nursing as a multi-level career, the College is committed to advancing licensed practical nurses to the associate degree registered nurse level in a one-year full-time program, and registered nurses to the baccalaureate degree in a nineteen-month full-time program. Students in both programs have the option of attending part-time. Our baccalaureate students specialize and focus on environmental urban health nursing. The College endeavors to produce high quality and technically adaptable nurses who are able to function effectively in a changing society. Helene Fuld provides upward mobility to a largely minority population and provides critically needed nurses to medically underserved areas. The College is located in Harlem, one of the most dynamic and revitalized communities in New York City.
