HERA Women's Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating ovarian cancer through Health, Empowerment, Research, and Awareness. HERA Women's Cancer Foundation, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, funds and inspires scientific researchers who focus on solving the ovarian cancer problem. HERA seeks collaborative partnerships that broadly expand research, awareness, and education. At the heart of HERA is the underlying premise that women need to have the knowledge and the confidence to fully understand and advocate for the direction of their health care. HERA accomplishes all of the above by offering community events that center on increasing self-esteem and confidence for all participants while raising funds for critical research grants.HERA events are fun, a place to learn new skills and challenge yourself, as well as a place to turn your passion into action to find a cure for ovarian cancer. Please visit our website www.herafoundation.org to learn more.Our signature Climb4Life(SM) event was conceived in 2001, while HERA Founder, Sean Patrick was recovering from her seventh ovarian cancer surgery. She felt a rock-climbing event would put a different face on ovarian cancer and get people involved in the cause. Realizing The Climb4Life(SM) would raise awareness in women who are healthy and active, Patrick saw greater potential: the event would enable women to be introduced to the sport of climbing, and it's physical and mental benefits.Since then HERA events have evolved to include climbing, running, hiking, biking, as well as other activities. The common element throughout our events is our ability to empower, educate, and make aware our audiences about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Each event provides a great stage for spreading information about ovarian cancer.
