heritage2health (h2h) is a unique partnership with Higher Education, heritage sites, the countryside and local communities. We work with people of all ages and abilities and from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. H2h developed over the last 6 years from listening groups that identified social isolation, health and wellbeing as a major concern, particularly amongst older people. We provide a creative solution to engaging community participants in an inter-generational activity that challenges isolation and improves wellbeing. H2h encourages students, staff and volunteers from health, social care and the arts to co-design events in heritage places, linking people of all ages and those with diverse health and social needs. All participants are invited to take part in the planning process; we recognise that everyone has something to teach and something to learn. We seek to improve wellbeing by developing the confidence and participation of people who are isolated due to disability or social status. We do this by connecting local communities, education, health and heritage sectors. Participants work together to create therapeutic and motivational learning experiences in heritage and countryside spaces.
