Performing Arts - Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
The Internationaal Danstheater (ID) is one of the oldest dance companies of the Netherlands, founded in 1961. From its rich history, the ID recently made a transition to a new repertoire with a focus on using elements of cultures from around the world as the basis for contemporary dance productions. Choreographers get the opportunity to explore their artistic and creative vision of traditions, rituals and diversity when creating a production. The new repertoire started with Zonnekoningen (Jan Linkens) and Mannen van de Tango (Neel Verdoorn) in the season of 2012/2013. In 2013/2014 SILK (Jan Linkens), Si-lin, de legend of the silk princess (youth, Jan Linkens) and Fado-Ritual e Sombras (Vasco Wellenkamp) followed. In the season of 2014/2015 Si-lin and SILK will be retaken and the new production CRAZY BLUES (Neel Verdoorn) will follow. Since this new direction, the company has extended its international reputation. A tour took place to Indonesia in 2012 and 2013 and to Mexico in 2013. The ID has plans for a tour to the USA, Mexico and the Far East in 2015. Since 2011, Sophie Lambo is managing director and Jan Linkens artistic intendant of the company.
