Hospital & Health Care - Brewster, New York, United States
Chartered in January, 1957 the Hudson Valley Chapter was first known as the Westchester Chapter. At the time, it was a local chapter of the American Association of Hospital Accounts (AAHA), established in 1946, and a predecessor to HFMA. Edward G. Corrigan of Mount Vernon Hospital was the first Chapter President. In 1968, AAHA became the Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA). The Westchester Chapter became the Northern Metropolitan NY Chapter of HFMA in July 1974. By 1982, HFMA recognized the increasing diversity in it's members and their organizations. As a consequence, HFMA was renamed the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Our Chapter Board presented members with a resolution to change the name of the Northern Metropolitan NY Chapter to the Hudson Valley NY Chapter. Overwhelmingly members accepted and National HFMA approved the name change in November 1995.This was more than a name change. It was an effort to distinguish our Chapter by association with the Hudson Valley geographic region. Throughout its several iterations over the past 50 years, the Hudson Valley NY Chapter has had a mission of service to the many healthcare and other related financial professionals in the Hudson Valley. The numerous awards earned by the Chapter for service to members, professional development, and overall Chapter improvement, represent notable achievements as well as a tribute to the dedication of our volunteer leaders and members.
