Hi Kent is a registered charity for deaf and hard of hearing people. Our aim is to provide a full range of integrated services for anyone with hearing difficulties and those who have an interest in their welfare.Free advice and help is available to everyone – see http://www.hikent.org.uk/how-we-help/ for addresses and opening times of our Resource Centres and community clinics.Our services include the following:- carrying out assessments for people over 65 years old on behalf of Kent County Council- a full range of assistive equipment at our Resource Centres in Maidstone and Canterbury, which you can try out to decide which item best meets your needs (please make an appointment for this)- if you have equipment needs that are not eligible for free provision following assessment, we will be happy to supply such items at modest cost. (We are a not-for-profit organisation.)- a network of more than 200 hearing aid aftercare clinics in towns, villages and communities all over Kent, where people can have NHS hearing aids cleaned, retubed and replacement batteries supplied and fitted, all of which is free of charge and no appointments necessary- lipreading Classes, free to participants- British Sign Language classes- Deaf Awareness courses for front-line staff
