The Highland Whole Food Institute (HWFI) supports individuals in transitioning to a Whole Food Plant-Based (WFPB) lifestyle to benefit from the psychological and physical health benefits it has been shown to provide. We provide support to anyone who may be struggling with their weight, considering weight loss surgery or living with physical conditions such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease or type two diabetes. We offer psychological support as well as offering education regarding a WFPB food lifestyle to allow each person to make an informed choice for themselves.In addition to psychological and educational support, we work closely with nutritionists, dieticians and other professionals to ensure each person we work with receives the most appropriate care for their situation.Our focus is supporting ordinary people, like us, overcome the challenges associated with our unhealthy Western diet. A WFPB approach to food includes avoiding all animal products (meat, dairy, eggs), all processed ingredients such as refined sugar and wheat products, all added salts and oils, all alcohol and caffeine and all processed foods (which contain most of the before-mentioned items).Many researchers around the world have documented the physical health benefits of such an approach to eating. At the HWFI we seek to maximise the benefits and chance of success for people by including a focus on psychological health as well.Everyone we work with will be supported to find their version of a WFPB food lifestyle as there is no 100% one-size fits all approach.
