About the Hillside FoundationThe Hillside Foundation had its beginnings in 2007 when horse owners and horse lovers became increasingly frustrated by the slow pace of the fight against the inhumane treatment and brutal slaughter of these loyal, majestic and highly trained animals.We were appalled that enforcement agencies turned a blind eye to the shadowy figures involved in the deaths of over 100,000 horses each year, allowing them to operate with total disregard of puny existing laws.We were astonished that few Americans were aware of the atrocities of horse slaughter. We were disgusted that over half of U.S. Congressmen and Senators didn't upport federal legislation that tried to address the issue.And we were committed to becoming a strong new voice in the effort to stop horse slaughter! The Hillside Foundation, Inc. is a Texas non-profit corporation, granted 501 (c) (3) status by the Internal Revenue Service.Contributions to The Hillside Foundation, Inc., are deductible. Mr. John Murrell, a nationally known thoroughbred owner whose love of horses began with hs family's involvement in the 1960's, is its president.
