HiLo is the new Grab + Go sustainable food start-up from the founder of Chop'd, Jasper Wight, and his sister Tiffany Arntson. The first shop opened August 2017 at One Broadgate Circle, between the City and East London.Fast, fresh and affordable, with a promise of no boring bites, HiLo pots fly the flag for stealth health: food that tastes so good you don't realise it's also good for you. Recognising the needs of the time-pressed clientele, the team aim for 30 second transactions to reduce queueing time and help people make the most out of their lunch hour.Inspired by multi-cultural London, flavour is at the forefront, with each pot providing up to 5 of your 5 a day. Hi veg Lo meat is the mantra - hence the name HiLo - with a higher ratio of veg and complex carbs to meat or plant protein, in one nutritious pot. By using less but better quality free-range meat, the locally-sourced veg, herbs and spices dominate. Pots are priced from £5 for 400-500gm.The weekly rotating menu of 10 HotPots and SaladPots is split 50/50 across Lo meat and Vegetarian, with a high quota of vegan, gluten free and dairy free pots. Everything is made in HiLo's Spitalfields kitchen, using ingredients sourced as locally as possible, supporting producers and lowering food miles. Jasper's kitchen team are creative and inventive in getting the most out of basic vegetables, reducing food costs and minimising waste.This fledgling family business sees Jasper running food, operations and funding, and Tiffany leading brand, comms and sales. They spent nine months honing recipes, hacking production systems and testing routes to market before raising funds for the site.
