Music - New York, New York, United States
Hip-Hop Hacks (HHH) is a multi-disciplinary organization that explores and promotes ways that hip-hop music and culture interact with, and inspire, technological innovation.Through a series of programs, events and ‘hackathons,' HHH participants study the elements of hip-hop music and culture, participate in code and music technology-based workshops, network with other young people, students and creatives and learn directly from music- and tech-industry professionals about the intersection of hip-hop, science and technology.Since its inception, hip-hop has helped fuel technological growth in many areas, from turntables and microphones to mixtapes and music production, and now apps and algorithms. HHH builds on this legacy, by respecting, enforcing, nurturing and promoting the continuing connection between the world's most popular genre and the next generation of technological advances. The first Hip-Hop Hacks hackathon took place in April, 2016, and was repeated the following year. The events, which took place at the New York headquarters of streaming music giant Spotify, attracted hundreds of tech and music professionals, 20+ corporate sponsors, 1,000+ participants and set the standard for hip-hop influenced music and tech events.Additional Hip-Hop Hacks events are being scheduled on an ongoing basis across the United States, and will include hackathons, workshops, seminars and more.
