The Historic Arkansas Museum Foundation, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation supporting the Historic Arkansas Museum, a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage.The museum is the primary interpreter of frontier Arkansas using museum houses, exhibitions, publications, educational activities, collections and research to present the early history of the state. The HAMF is a 501(C)(3) corporation that houses the Citizens of the Territory membership program and supports the museum's goals and objectives. Each HAMF Board member serves a three-year term with the possibility of election to a second three-year term. Board members may serve only two consecutive three-year terms. Each Board member develops a personal commitment to the museum and participates in the activities of the Board and the programs of the Historic Arkansas Museum. The Board meets on the fourth Thursday of every other month, with the exception of November when the fourth Thursday falls on Thanksgiving. In November, the Board meets on the third Thursday. Board members take an active role in recruiting and maintaining membership in the museum's membership organization and the Board hosts the museum's biennial fundraiser, the Candlelight Gala.
