HKG Estate Wines- Hop Kiln Vineyards, located in Russian River Valley, is known for its historic building and HKG estate grown Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Grigio. This property has been a working ranch since the 1880′s. Hop Kiln was built in 1905, by owner Sol Walters, to process hops that flourished on farms in the sunny, cool weather along the Russian River. Although grapes were grown on the ranch since the 19th century, the wine was only produced for family use until 1975 when the historic barn and kiln were converted to a bonded winery. In 2006, the winery introduced a premium label showcasing estate wines referred to as HKG - Hop Kiln Grown. In the past several years, close to 100 acres of the 248 acre ranch have been replanted and now house mostly Burgundian style wines — 75 acres of Pinot Noir, 15 acres of Chardonnay, and 5 acres of Pinot Grigio. Located on the middle reach of the Russian River, the winery's goal is to create highly focused, distinct estate wines from each phase of planting. Few properties possess the unique soil types and variations of terrain on a singe continuous ranch. In addition, cutting- edge technology and equipment enhances highly efficient farming.
