The team colors are red and white and the team is sometimes called, "Holmen" which loosely translates to island. Holmalunds IF are affiliated to the Västergötlands Fotbollsförbund.Since their foundation in 1933 Holmalunds IF has has been of the most dominate local football teams. The club Women A-team played in Elitettan the season of 2016 and 2017 with F19 in Sweden highest division and an Academy with the most promising local youth. They play their home matches at the Brogårdsvallen in Alingsås. From 2018 there are no longer any girls/women in Holmalunds IF.The men play in Div 3 Mellersta Götaland, most successful player is Johan Elmander many years ago
