Home Federal Bank was founded by Buck Beltzer in May of 1935. Home Federal Bank's first office was located in the Grand Island Business College building at 212 North Locust Street in Grand Island. Buck and his staff of 3 began by providing savings accounts and home loans to area residents. After moving for a short time to a building on Third Street, Home Federal Bank quickly outgrew the facility and in 1967 constructed a new "home" at our current Downtown location of 221 South Locust Street in Grand Island. A branch office was later opened on North Broadwell Street in Grand Island to help serve the growing northern area of Grand Island. The Broadwell Branch was combined into our Conestoga North facility in 1981 when it was built near the Conestoga Mall at 3419 West State Street. A multiple lane drive up facility was also added Downtown at 120 South Locust Street in 1985. Home Federal Bank expanded again in 2004 with the addition of the Southwest facility located at the intersection of West Stolley Park Road and South Webb Road in Grand Island. On January 1, 2016, Home Federal Bank acquired Home Federal Savings & Loan Assocation of Nebraska. With the acquisition, Home Federal Bank acquired 4 new locations in Greater Nebraska. The acquisition of the Hastings, Holdrege, Lexington, and Superior locations expanded Home Federal Bank's network to 8 branches in 5 communities.Today, more than 70 dedicated employees serve a growing customer base.
