Hoops for Hope: The Jim Marsh Classic is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to be held on Saturday August 29th and Sunday August 30th on Airport Way in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood. The Jim Marsh Classic is a partnership between Mentoring Works Washington and The Northwest Parkinson's Foundation to leverage Seattle's rich basketball history and to honor Jim Marsh, whose lifelong passion has been to coach and mentor young people on and off the basketball court. Jim served as founding president of Mentoring Works Washington until his retirement in 2014 and has been living with Parkinson's Disease since 2004. The event will raise funds and awareness for youth mentoring and Parkinson's disease initiatives and honor all that Jim Marsh has done for thousands of young people in our community. The Jim Marsh Classic is for players of all skill-levels, ages 8 and up. The tournament features lots of family-friendly activities in addition to the basketball including live music, celebrity appearances, contests, and live broadcasts by KJR. In addition, Georgetown offers lots of terrific retailers and restaurants so bring the whole family and help us make this first annual event a big success.
