"Charity is nothing more than when one of two neighbors, each with a different set of problems, lends a hand to the other. People do not need saving, they need an opportunity –an opportunity to access the tools and resources to overcome their own difficulties and create their own lives." After witnessing the injustices of extreme poverty firsthand, Jen-ai Lai and Hina Ukrani, two high school students founded Hope for Happiness as a non-profit organization in 2010. Previously, Hope for Happiness has worked in affiliation with other Canadian charities to fund international campaigns such as the rehabilitation of 300 people in a war torn community in South Sudan, as well as to help out local projects by providing fresh produce to those in need.In February 2014, Hope for Happiness received federal incorporation from the Canadian government to become an incorporated Canadian Non-Profit Organization. Hope for Happiness is dedicated to promoting awareness about human rights issues and taking action against poverty on both a local and international scale. Hope for Happiness initiatives aim to educate and empower our neighbors with the tools they need to rise above their own difficulties, reach the limits of their own potential and ultimately, create the life that they want to live, regardless of their race, religion, gender or socio-economic background.
