The Horse Sense Riding School is a lesson program like no other. Our program teaches English and Western horseback riding lessons with a focus on giving beginners a great start in horsemanship. Horse Sense is more than just a place for horseback riding lessons - we hope to create a safe, inclusive and affordable community for people who want to enjoy horses and network with other like-minded individuals. Our riders range in age from 4 to 74 and come from all over the region. Our programs offers sliding scale lessons for low income families. We believe that horses teach patience, compassion, teamwork and communication skills and we love sharing these experiences with individuals and businesses in our community. Our senior horses come to us as rescues or horses whose owners were unable to keep them due to physical or financial hardship. We believe that the human-equine connection should be celebrated, and we are happy to welcome these talented and patient seniors into our families. The Horse Sense Riding School provides these horses with an opportunity to support themselves and help other unwanted horses find a home. In return for their faithful service, we promise our seniors that they will not be returned to the feedlots. When they are in need of retirement, they will be retired to a pasture provided by the riding school where they can kick up their hooves and relax. They deserve it!
