Rolof Mulder is CEO and starter of Hospitainer. The core of the company is to produce mobile and modular medical infrastructure based on shipping containers.A hospital can be build very quickly from stock in any combination of OT, X-ray, maternity, dental, ophthalmic and so on. Either on the ground, on wheels or on water. Completely fitted and installed and completed with tent structures or buildings.Rolof has a strong background in forming consortia with the UN (OCHA, UNFPA), NGO's like MSF, companies like Philips and implementing partners. For instance 4 of the 6 mobile hospitals and clinics recently placed in Syria were a result of such an initiative. His drive is to provide medical care for people who have no access to quality care in conflict- or rural area's, with a special place for maternal care and care for victims of sexual Gender Based Violence. Examples of the latter are the Emergency Obstetric Surgical Clinic for UNFPA in the Philippines and 16 Maternal/GBV trucks in war torn Syria and Iraq. For the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hospitainer provided Ebola testing labs and isolation centers in Sierra Leone and Liberia. And for instance ten 50 bed mobile hospitals are produced for the Middle East. Hospitainer 50 bed hospitals are successfully being used during the Hajj. Since 2010 a total of 100 medical containers have been produced and deployed.Rolof has a background in Nursing and IT before starting Hospitainer. In 2010 he was awarded the 28th place in the Innovation Top 100 of the Netherlands. In 2012 Hospitainer became a key partner in a EU funded consortium with MSF, Red Cross, Universities and other partners. Hospitainer was invited because of the "Beyond State of the Art" solutions. In 2014 Rolof became RABO entrepreneur of the year in the region.
