Hospitality - Buffalo, New York, United States
Host to backpackers, travelers and out-of-towners, domestic and abroad, this independent & non-profit hostel is in the heart of downtown Buffalo's Theater District. We offer a communal homestead with a fully equipped kitchen with coffee, teas and oatmeal, sweet spacious lounges, free wifi, book exchange, free store, free bicycle sharing, laundry facilities, bag storage and a movie room with the finest hand picked selection of VHS tapes and Ping Pong! The Hostel is a Buffalo treasure and a vital cultural asset to downtown & Western NY. The Hostel needs to continue to be a part of the city's resurgence and cultural history for forever! Save Hostel Buffalo-Niagara!With 3 years left on the lease to the front part of the building of 667 Main Street that the hostel has maintained since 1996 and has made a vibrant cultural hub for 6,000 international and domestic travelers a year in the downtown Theater district. As of February 1st, 2017 the entire building (from Main St to Washington St) is up for sale by the city mostly due to the back half which has fallen into disrepair. After July 2021 the hostel lease ends and will be in jeopardy and at the hands of who ever buys it. We must convince BURA and Mayor Brown how much Hostel Buffalo-Niagara is an unique asset to the city of Buffalo and for the entire region. We want the city to work with the Hostel and the community to figure out creative solutions for the hostel to remain to serve the city of Buffalo as its host to backpackers and travelers from all over the world.
