Hospitality - Paris, Île-de-France, France
So convenient for Paris' Left Bank; so friendly for a large hotel. Buffet breakfasts, a quirky decor in cosy little rooms. Cosy, functional, on the Left Bank and near everything – three steps from the Sorbonne, three minutes from the Jardin du Luxembourg. A pair of buildings (one built in 1913, one Art Deco) run up eight storeys linked by a staircase that wraps its graceful self around the old-world cage-style lift... and the rooms on the top floor get the great views over Parisian rooftops to the Eiffel Tower and the Sacré Coeur. Inside, all has been refurbished. Step into a flashy black, white and silver reception lobby, manned by delightful staff, with sofas upholstered in neo-baroque prints and a fabulous round mirror overseeing the space. There's an airy beige-tiled breakfast room for a buffet start to the day (or you can have continental in your room). Comfortable bedrooms, not huge but a fair size for Paris, have fabric-covered walls in red and brown, heavy coordinated curtains, wall-to-wall carpeting in thin stripes and new duvets. Black and white Parisian prints hang on the walls; bathrooms, though tiny, are sparklier. Paris lies at your feet.
