___ Model_House_1 "Net Zero Carbon Housing for Sustainable Rural Living" ___ During 2010- 2011, HOUSE+ spent significant resources researching and developing a cost-effective, super high-performing lightgauge steel framed model dwelling to exceed Passivhaus/ SEAI DEAP A1 standard and meet UK Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 (Net Zero C02 Emissions) using off-site construction methodology and very impressive architectural design intent. The performance standard primarily relies upon considered site response, proprietary envelope detailing with the cancellation of thermal bridging effect, plus significant building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems; which results in very low specific space heating requirements and the total elimination of fossil fuel burning on site. We undertook proof-of-concept energy modeling using the Passivhaus Institut's Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) two-dimensional heat transfer software THERM, among other applications.
