Restaurants - Cascais, Lisbon, Portugal
Our History:House of Wonders was created in Cascais in 2011 by Anna Catharina, a Dutch entrepreneur with a degree in Hospitality Management and vast experience in business in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. She arrived in Portugal in 2010 wishing to start up a business. Looking at the restaurants on offer she opened a small café and concept store, in the heart of Cascais, minutes from the beaches, the old center and the shopping streets. The mission was to offer market fresh food, vegetable dishes and salads as well as freshly squeezed juices with a variety of fresh fruits. It was an unusual concept and a bold pioneering step, as Portugal is known for a cuisine of fish and meat. However, responding to the growing demand for dishes offering fresh vegetable, greens and fresh fruits, the House developed a market catering to a large public enjoying a Plant Based Cuisine. Today, although vegetarians and vegan clients frequent the House, the larger share of guests enjoy the fact that the cuisine offers fresh market vegetables, interesting flavours and colourful dishes. It is offering a healthy alternative to the, more or less, 500 restaurants in Cascais have on offer. Our type of cuisine is Mediterranean, using fresh herbs and spices to flavour the dishes. The method of cooking is clean & healthy, using mainly oven baking, sautéing or grilling.
