Humanosphere is an independent, non-profit news organization that provides in-depth coverage on the fight to reduce poverty and improve global health. We are devoted to covering and analyzing the most important (or entertaining) issues in the global health, aid and development arena. Humanosphere is operated by Tom Paulson, a veteran journalist who for more than a quarter century has covered matters of global health, science, medicine, health policy, aid and development. Prior to operating this news blog, Paulson was science and medical reporter at the Seattle Post Intelligencer. It was originally launched in 2010 with support from National Public Radio and Seattle affiliate station KPLU (and with funding from the Knight Foundation and Corporation for Public Broadcasting). It was launched in Seattle because of the region’s leadership in global health, aid, development and the humanitarian sector. The world’s largest philanthropy, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, represents just of one many hundreds of such organizations in the region working to make the world a better place. Though headquartered in Seattle, with a moss-backed bias, nearly a third of Humanosphere’s audience is outside the U.S.
