At Humber DECA, our vision is to see our chapter evolve, and provide our delegates with the opportunity to develop their analytical, presentation, and networking skills, through a variety of in-house training sessions and networking events, along with the ability to use these skills in competition at the regional, provincial, and international levels. Since its establishment at the Humber School of Business in 2013, Humber DECA has become the one of the largest and one of the leading student groups at the Humber College Institute of Technology.First, the Humber chapter made history when it became the first college to ever compete and successfully place in DECA U, an internationally recognized non-profit organization and Canada's largest undergraduate business case competition. After two years of competition, the Humber chapter has successfully been able to recruit over 30 delegates, competing in various events such as Marketing, Finance, Management and Human Resources, often correlated with our delegates' specialization in their commerce degree programs.Aside from competitions, students who join DECA have an opportunity to interact and network with top industry representatives at valuable workshops. During the competitions students are not only able to apply what they've learned in their classes to real-life business cases and problems, they are able to showcase their presentation, creativity and analytical skills, while competing with top educational institutions in Ontario.Lakeshore DECA aims to help students develop confidence and demonstrate leadership in the business community. Our membership base is comprised of first to fourth year students from all disciplines in both business and non-business faculties from all across Humber College Institute of Technology.
