As students, we strive for recognition from our teachers and parents when we perform well in school. This sense of validation can carry a double-edged sword simply because not all teachers give out the same recognition to each individual student. Most students feel discouraged when they don't see that constant sense of recognition which then, diminishes the student's motivation to want to improve. When recognition is given, it is usually given to a handful of students as an "example set for the class." This method often creates favoritism in the classroom which ultimately leads to a competitive environment. It is one of the primary reasons why students are afraid to give it there all in their education.Humblebee aims to solve this problem by leveraging design and technology to increase communication, transparency, and motivation among students, parents, and teachers. We plan on triggering these factors by building a point/reward base system that enables students, parents, and teachers to earn points that can be exchanged for prizes, whenever they are more involved in their students' education. Our goal is to increase intrinsic motivation in students by rewarding them more occasionally for being more involved.
