Hospital & Health Care - Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
The HungerNdThirst Foundation encourages in its own way a form of participation by stimulating and supporting cancer patients, ex-cancer patients and caregivers of cancer patients to share their experience so that the recovery for other cancer patients, former cancer patients and caregivers is supported as well. This idea is in line with the concept of 'recovery-promoting support'; a concept that has been formulated in a certain way in healthcare. Internationally, various initiatives have been developed in recent years in the field of so-called 'participatory medicine' (see also 'patients like me'), in which thinking and acting from a patient perspective form a central point of departure. HungerNdThirst stands for Hunger And Thirst, translated into Dutch as 'Honger en Dorst'. The name is chosen from a naturally occurring 'hunger and thirst' for information and desire to enjoy life, and to changes that can have a positive effect on society and on everything that can make the tolerance of the less good things in life easier. And to moments that can be etched into memory as positive and beautiful memories.
