Hospital & Health Care - Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, United States
Huntingdon County Pride is a non-profit organization that helps developmentally and physically disabled, ill, or injured persons realize their potential. The acronym PRIDE stands for Promoting, Rehabilitation, Independence, Dignity, and Education. Huntingdon County PRIDE is located at 1301 Mount Vernon Avenue in Smithfield. PRIDE offers a variety of services to meet the needs of Huntingdon County. In our home-based early intervention program, we provide speech therapy, physical therapy, and special instruction to eligible children, ages birth through age 2. We also provide speech therapy services outside of early intervention to individuals of all ages, including children and adults. PRIDE also offers occupational therapy services to school age students in the school setting. Our equipment loan program is our most popular service. Pride offers medical equipment ranging from hospital beds to walkers and crutches. There is no cost to borrow the items and this service only requires a doctor's prescription. There is no time limit to rent the items and you can keep them as long as they are needed. PRIDE also supports Horsepower Farms which provides therapeutic horseback riding. The horse is used to help meet the physical, mental, social, and emotional needs of riders with disabilities through the teaching of horsemanship skills. Horsepower Farms is an excellent program and PRIDE is very proud to support this service through the local school districts in Huntingdon County.
