Huntington's Disease Foundation (HDFI) is a 501(3)(c) non-profit that raises awareness & funds to find a cure for HD. HDFI is dedicated to finding better treatments to improve the quality of life for those with HD and to ultimately find a cure for this devastating disease.The funds we raise support the most promising research programs aimed at treating and curing the disease. \\HDFI was inspired by our co-founder, Trey Gray. Trey has been the drummer for many well known artists, such as Brooks 'n Dunn, Reba, Faith Hill and Jewel. He was diagnosed with HD in 2003 and his 3 children have a 50/50 chance of inheriting this disease too. His mother and uncle have both died of HD and he witnessed the pain & struggle as they went through each dreadful phase of HD. \\HD is a rare neurological brain disease that affects a persons ability to think, walk, reason, or even talk. It's a rare disease, and rare diseases don't always get a lot of attention. Ever since Trey's family members have died toward HD, and he received his diagnoses he has been committed to do whatever he can do to help bring a cure to HD. Trey has leveraged his "celebrity" status bringing more awareness & support around HD. His dying wish is that he can help make a difference. Trey has been committed to the HD community by being: 1) the official spokesperson for HDSA; 2) appearing in a HD documentary, "Alive & Well"; 3) worked closely with Vanderbilt to assist in funding; 4) hosted many HD fundraiser events; 5) provided support to HD support groups; and 6) keynote speaker at events. \\Whether for research, education, advocacy , or awareness he will continue helping the HD community until he is unable to do so. HDFI was created to keep Trey's dream alive and find a way to turn his disease into something positive. We are dedicated to continuing to bring awareness to the forefront and continue to hope, encourage and support – no matter how big or small – to help advance the pursuit of a HD cure.
