Friendship and a love of barbershop style singing are what brought the girls of Hypnotic together…. Well, those plus a few other fun coincidences!Hypnotic formed in the fall of 2007 when Lil' Erin asked Emo if she'd be interested in quartetting one night at a Harborlites Chorus rehearsal (All four girls are currently members www.harborliteschorus.org). Emo said that would be perfect as her best friend Erin the Elder and another friend of theirs had been tossing around the idea of getting together. The four girls met up one Sunday afternoon, assigned voice parts (at the time had two tenors, a lead, and a baritone); and off they went. Hypnotic place 3rd in the Region 21 Sweet Adelines competition in Phoenix in April of 2008. In the summer of 2008, life circumstances dictated that Hypnotic find a new bass…. For 3 months, Hypnotic was merely Hypnot. Then one very serendipitous day in October, Erin the Elder received a phone call from a college mate who had just graduated and was looking to go to a Harborlites rehearsal. That very night, Hypnot taught Ashley a tag and within 2 weeks she was the new bass of Hypnotic and a new bass in Harborlites as well!Since the start of 2009 (and even a little before), Hypnotic has been busy helping local choruses with their Young Women in Harmony festivals (something very near and dear to our hearts as the festivals teach high school girls about the "fabulousness" of barbershop singing – yes, we made that word up)! Hypnotic's main passion is to spread the love of barbershop singing to any young girls who will hear our story! Hypnotic had also been busy preparing for the Region 21 Sweet Adelines competition which was held in Pasadena, CA the last weekend of April. Hypnotic is thrilled to mention that we won that competition and are now going to compete at the International competition to be held in Nashville in October of 2009!!!!
