IAQ-IQ is an environmental organization designed to educate individuals and businesses on the harm of poor indoor air quality. In collaboration with various State of California agencies and related organizations, IAQ-IQ is in the process of creating several environmental bills to propose for the 2016 legislative calendar that address the dire need for Indoor Air to be regulated and enforced, known as BRIELLE'S BILL. Clean, healthy IAQ is vital to all, yet it has been 45 years since the Clean Air Act of 1970 was federally adopted. An approved amendment was implemented in 1990; 25 years ago. The Clean Air Act (CAA) regulates ambient air, yet excludes indoor air monitoring. Ingesting indoor air should be considered and handled with a similar degree of care, if not higher, than ambient air or water, as we spend over 80% of our lives indoors, yet it remains unregulated. The EPA "has found concentrations of VOC's in indoor air to be 2 – 5 x's greater than outdoor air and sometimes far greater." There is a desperate, public need for IAQ to be regulated; laws established for certifications/licenses, guidelines, permissible levels, and enforcement. There is a greater need than to only regulate IEQ in the State of California. Brielle's Bill is a necessity that should become federally mandated. My plea and push for this regulation is not for Brielle, for her the damage is already done. Brielle's story is shared in hopes her/our struggles can help save the lives and health of other unsuspecting, innocent children, along with their families, from experiencing and witnessing unnecessary pain and suffering. Her current and potential life circumstances have been presented for awareness and to understand the impact compromised Indoor Environment Quality can have on a child.
