ICCO is an international non-governmental organization established in the Netherlands 50 years ago, founded on Christian values and directing its efforts towards combating poverty and injustice in the world. ICCO Cooperation Southern Africa thus constitutes one of the seven regional offices in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe, providing financial support and advice to over 900 local organisations and networks throughout the world. ICCO dedicates resources to improving the lives of the poor in improving their access to basic services, stimulating sustainable economic development and advancing peace and democracy. ICCO Southern Africa provides funding, brokerage services and advice to over 90 partners in the region. ICCO has increasingly been working with the private sector since the early nineties. In 2015, the year of our 50th Anniversary, ICCO Cooperation launches the worldwide campaign: ‘Human Rights and Business, Let's Get Used to It'. With this campaign spearheaded by the seven regional offices of ICCO Cooperation in Africa, in Latin America, Africa and Asia, ICCO Cooperation makes companies aware that doing good business also means paying attention to human rights. The NGO acts as the linking pin, connecting local communities with companies. In its 50 year history, the locally cultivated expertise and knowledge worldwide ensures that ICCO Cooperation remains rooted in communities.
