ICHEC HOUSING PROJECT Details
The ICHEC HOUSING PROJECT is organized by ICHEC COOPERATION INTERNATIONALE ASBL and is now held each academic year in February. This opportunity is open to any student and is an alternative to the corporate internship organized by ICHEC.Our goal is to train students by giving them an enriching experience. Involving them in social constructions is a way to get there.For our partners, it's just the opposite: their goal is, in India, to provide shelter for as many poor families as possible, in Burkina Faso and Benin, to fight against desertification and food insecurity, and the way to get there is to welcome students.At the end of 2017, 1,299 students have participated in the ICHEC HOUSING PROJECT and some several times.In 23 years of participation in India, 980 students allowed the financing and construction of 769 houses and several community buildings (schools, nursery, dispensary).In 1999 and 2000, 38 participants went to Peru, financed and participated in the construction of 2 community houses, a soccer field and sewage pipes.Since 2001, Burkina Faso has hosted 161 different students. They participated in the financing of micro-dams and boreholes and participated in the planting of more than 70,000 trees.Since 2012, Benin has hosted several projects: 57 students have funded projects related to food security and have also participated in the planting of several thousand trees.Our approach focuses on development through education. We work with several local partners responsible for the various development projects in the field. Students, partners, beneficiaries, all together, they are the success of the ICHEC HOUSING PROJECT. Everyone comes out of this adventure more open to the world, the stereotypes are flying away and the heart full of hope for the future.
