The Idaho Veterans Research and Education Foundation (IVREF) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit research corporation, affiliated with the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center (BVAMC), whose researchers and educators are committed to advancing biomedical discoveries to improve the treatment and healthcare of Veterans in Idaho and the nation.IVREF is the only not-for-profit medical research entity dedicated to Veterans in the state of Idaho, and is led by a world expert in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of life-threatening infectious disease, Dr. Dennis Stevens.We strongly believe that:• those who courageously serve in our nation's military deserve exceptional healthcare.• today's research defines tomorrow's standard of patient care and• training today's young scientists and healthcare professionals ensures a continuum of healthcare advances.Our team of esteemed scientists conduct world-class biomedical research in a new, fully equipped, state-of-the-art 18,000 sq. ft. laboratory facility and fully accredited animal research facility, located on the Boise VAMC campus. Current research areas focus on finding cures for multiple antibiotic-resistant gram-positive infectious diseases, and advanced therapies in diabetic healing, all of which are serious concerns that affect veteran's health. Current infrastructure includes cores in: microbiology, protein, tissue culture, cell isolation & characterization, molecular biology, HPIC; and research administration, oversight, and compliance.
