The IDIN-SADC Consortium is a project uniting innovation centers in the SADC region of Africa. These innovation centers work with groups of makers, builders, trainers, & supporters working to build up the grassroots innovation ecosystem. The Consortium champions the vision of the International Development Innovation Network (IDIN) and its collaborative design approach to technology and community development, and it links members to a global network of innovators and social entrepreneurs. IDIN, established through a USAID grant in 2012 by a group of universities led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's D-Lab, enables a global community of changemakers to design, develop, and disseminate their own innovations that improve their own lives and the livelihoods of underserved populations around the world. The Network has developed a co-creative design & business thinking approach and implements it globally through international design summits, mentorship and training, and innovation center support. With the partnership of seven existing SADC innovation centers, the Consortium will introduce and/or scale up IDIN's services and grow the grassroots innovation ecosystem in the SADC region. The seven innovation centres are:Twende (Tanzania)Kafue (Zambia)D'Kar (Botswana)Kaputura (Botswana)Rakops (Botswana)Dutlwe (Botswana)Lesoma (Botswana)
