The NEOJIBA program – Núcleos Estaduais de Orquestras Juvenis e Infantis da Bahia (State Youth and Children's Orchestra Centers of Bahia) – was created in 2007 and promotes integration and social development of children, teenagers and youth through collective teaching and practice of music. NEOJIBA is an innovative example of public policy and mobilizes different sections of society. Linked to the Justice, Human Rights and Social Development Secretariat of the Bahia State government, its management is carried out by a non-profit organization, the Institute of Social Development through Musica (Instituto de Desenvolvimento Social pela Música – IDSM). NEOJIBA's founding diretor is conductor and pianist Ricardo Castro.
