Education is prominent as one of the fundamental rights of every Child. However it is worrisome to note that one in every five of the world's out-of-school children is in Nigeria. Even though primary education is officially free and compulsory, about 10.5 million of the country's children aged 5-14 years are not in school as of the first quarter of 2021. Only 61 percent of 6-11 year-olds regularly attend primary school and only 35.6 percent of children aged 36-59 months receive early childhood education. 50% of the world population of out of school children are in Nigeria (third most populated country in the world) according to a by UNESCO Institute of StatisticsAgainst the above background, Ikang Relief Services Network (IRSN) is recently reenergized towards expanding positives from quality education as a strategic approach to address root causes affecting the achievement of Sustainable Development in Nigeria. In recent terms, we are dedicated in tackling varying challenges militating against access to quality education for a Nigerian child while contributing to addressing educational inequalities in general. We have positioned to provide necessary interventions for quality education to help prepare children with the skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes required for success in the 21st century. Since 2009, we have sustained non-political and non-profit humanitarian and development interventions that are aimed toward advancing lives, promoting self-reliance and protecting dignity of Nigerian citizens. IRSN was initially established to provide free medical and educational outreaches to the resettled indigenes of Bakasi in Cross River State following the UN facilitated Green Tree Agreement between Nigeria and Cameroun in 2006. Since then the work has grown considerably based on the changing development context, the phenomenon of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and management priorities.
