Internet - Champaign, Illinois, United States
The Illini Internet of Things Association is the first Internet of Things organization at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign .Internet of Things as a concept is soon to take over the world and going to change how we live. All the top companies of the world are investing heavily in the technology and the industry is projected to be worth more than 4 Trillion dollars by 2020.Our fundamental focus is to get students excited about the Internet of Things and to introduce the far reaching implications and applications that such a technology presents. In our pursuit to create an IoT friendly atmosphere here at UIUC, we take it upon ourselves to give students a platform for the hands on exploration of IoT such as by organizing crash course tutorials in developing IoT focused technologies. As a student organization, we also hope to give our members unique opportunities by networking with industry leaders in IoT, engaging and utilizing some of the most cutting edge technologies existing within the space, as well as understanding industry standards. We, as an organization also want to be engaged in developing innovations through projects by leveraging the engineering talent that the UIUC harbors. Finally, we have a long term aim of making UIUC an IoT enabled "smart campus", in every sense, and we hope that each step that we take in our path inches us closer to this grand plan that kindled the start of this very organization. Although the organization is tech oriented, we are looking for students from all majors, be it business, finance, public policy or urban planning, anyone with a passion for innovation is welcome.
