IMBcom was The University of Queensland's private company dedicated to the commercialisation of research from one of the leading biotechnology research organisations in Australia, The Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB). Working closely with researchers to protect the IMB's intellectual property portfolio, IMBcom builds relationships and alliances with Industry and the investment community to create pathways for commercial success.The company managed the IMB's intellectual property as developers and drivers, resulting in licenses, contracts and the formation of start-up companies to develop ideas into products and services. Outcomes include better health for humans, superior plant and animal health, and wealth creation for the researchers, the university, investors, the State and the Nation. IMBcom held equity in several start-up companies including Protagonist, ElaCor, Nanomics BioSystems, Mimetica, Cyclagen, Kalthera, Nephrogenix and RRC Company.
