The Imbewu Group was established in early 2010 as a Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Scheme, and has as its mission to empower black women, develop black youth and eradicate poverty in South Africa through capacity building projects that are self-funded.The Group consists of three entities:1) Imbewu Trust is the oversight and policy-making body in the Group;2) Imbewu Investments is an investment management company, which aims to be the B-BBEE partner of choice for local and international companies;3) Imbewu Foundation acts as a venture philanthropy organisation, deploys capital generated by the investment arm and manages the capacity building projects. The Group originated out of one of the South Africa's main women's interest groups, and maintains a strong network of female leaders in government, society and industry.
