The International Medical Cooperation Committee (IMCC) is a voluntary youth organization that works with health promotion in Denmark and abroad. IMCC has approximately 1800 volunteers and is composed by a national board, six regional boards, 32 different activity groups and a secretariat.Through a variety of health promotion activities, projects and international partnerships we inform, teach and debate different health issues, create changes for civil society and local communities, and we put pressure on decision makers concerning equal healthcare. We have a rights-based approach to our health promotion work and we work with the UN´s 17 Sustainable Development goals. The purpose of our health promotion activities is described in our vision: "IMCC works to create a just world where everyone has equal access to health services and physical, mental and social well-being."As an organization, we wish to promote favorable conditions for young people's civic work in health promotion both in Denmark and abroad by creating a good framework for voluntary work. Therefore, we allow our members to organize themselves in voluntary communities and activities and our health projects are characterized, by being the volunteers themselves who develop, implement and coordinate the projects. This means that there is a high degree of independence and responsibility in the projects, making capacity building of our volunteers an important element.IMCC is a member of the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA), which is the umbrella organization of all medical students´ organizations worldwide. IFMSA is recognized by the UN through the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Medical Association (WMA).
