Welcome to the North Western Region, which has a total of 6818 registered IMechE members (2360 Affiliates; 1243 Associate Members; 2649 Members and 566 Fellows), covering South Cumbria, West Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester areas.Each Area is well served by a main Area Committee and a separate Young Members Panel who work tirelessly both together and independently with their local communities to engage their members through holding informative talks and visits, as well as striving to inspire the next generation of Engineers through involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Educational activities in schools and colleges.The Region is also home to several thriving IMechE Divisions and Groups; Automotive, Aerospace, Power, Manufacturing, Process and Railway Divisions, which along with the Area Committees and Young Member Panels, co-ordinate their activities across the Region through the IMechE North West Regional Committee. Despite the NW Region being a geographically large and diverse area, the Regional Committee endeavours to be accessible to all those that it represents by rotating its Quarterly Committee Meetings around the Region, going to each Area in turn throughout the year.The Regional Committee also brings the entire Region together by hosting a Prestigious Annual Dinner once a year, where members along with representatives from the Region's key Engineering Industries and Further Education providers, come together to celebrate the Engineering achievements of the North West Region.The Region has a vast diversity of Engineering/Industry, with large National and International companies working in the Nuclear, Ship Building and Aeronautical sectors, as well as thriving Small Medium Enterprise companies with specialties in Automobile, Railways and Aeronautics located across the Region.
