Immigrant Access Fund (IAF) is dedicated to providing character-based micro loans to help skilled immigrants pay for the licensing and training they need to work in their field in Canada. IAF seeks to eliminate the financial barrier many immigrants face in their quest to attain employment in their pre-migration field of work. IAF recognizes that the future of Canada depends on effectively integrating immigrants' knowledge and skills into the Canadian workforce. VISION Skilled immigrants are equitably integrated into the workforce and contributing their expertise to Canada's economic and social success. MANDATE To relieve poverty by providing micro-loans to needy immigrants in order to assist them in obtaining Canadian licensing or training that will allow them to obtain employment in their specified field. NON-NEGOTIABLE VALUES • Accessibility • Equitability • Sustainability • Integrity • Relevancy IAF loans are made to people who are trustworthy and are of good character. We lend to people not based on where they are today, but where we believe they will be in the future. IAF micro loans are different from regular bank loans because IAF does not require applicants to be employed, have a credit history in Canada, or have collateral-all typical bank requirements. IAF micro loans are available to people who cannot receive a student loan because they are not taking full-time studies or they have not been in Canada long enough.
