WHAT IS IEN AND WHAT'S OUR MISSION? IMMIGRATION EDUCATION NOTTINGHAM (IEN) is a student led volunteering project established and based within the University of Nottingham Student Union. We were created in the post-Brexit environment to try to change the national discourse and discussion surrounding the issues related to immigration, seeking asylum and diversity generally in the UK.Our goal is to tackle the social and cultural context which is creating collective violence and discrimination in our country, and instead to encourage a new national approach to talking about and managing the diversity in the UK which is more inclusive of different nationalities, faiths and cultures. The ultimate goal is to create a united and welcoming environment whereby all communities and people that live here can have an equal chance at thriving - without fear of discrimination and/or violence.
