OUR MISSION:The initiative of our organization stemmed from realizing how pervasive yet unsolved issues plague our society: from topics like the technological boom and our inability as a society to adapt to equitable healthcare, pandemic adjustments, and political divisiveness. Contemplating all these issues, we became frustrated at the lack of cohesive responses and decided that we, as a society, as a country, as humanity, can do better. We can strive for better, and we can DO better.OUR STORY:Our team started out as three medical students struggling through school. We were taught that we, as individuals, have the power to innovate medicine, to make everlasting changes to society. However, it immediately became apparent to us that our impact as individuals severely pales in comparison to what we can do as a unified cohort, as a society. And upon contemplating these issues that plague our society - human trafficking, gender equality, health insurance, and the like - we realized that the world has become one of divisiveness. One of "you vs. me," one of "ours vs yours." Yet looking back to the most revolutionary moments in history - the March on Washington 1963, the eradication of smallpox 1967, the discovery of the Higgs Boson particle 2012 - none of these problems were ever solved by one individual, by one specialty, by one political party versus another. All of these problems were solved by the intensive collaboration of many from all backgrounds, from all professions, from all different corners of life. This is what IMPEL strives to achieve: an effort from every cornerstone of humanity to make us better.
