This is a story of two artisans who have been lucky enough to live and work in a wonderful location and pursue their craft. Near the geographic center of North America lies an isolated area of great biological diversity called the Riding Mountain Biosphere Reserve in Manitoba, Canada. This area inspires the life and work of Reg and Jamie Kucey. It also gave rise to the name of their company, INAKA, the Japanese word for countryside. They endeavor to conceive and create objects that have meaning and virtue. Happy to continue as apprentice hermits in the Riding Mountain Biosphere Reserve, they believe a work is incomplete unless shared.A limited number of handmade antler carvings and custom designed wood furniture pieces are and handmade each year—everything from a small handcrafted hermit crab carved from a single piece of moose antler to a five-foot diameter handmade contemporary wood table. This year a new addition is our metal division. We manufacture shafts, bushings, nuts, bolts, etc., specializing in low volume production and prototyping. We can make a silver-plated table base, but most of us have budgets, so steel is a more common choice. Our metal division specializes in low volume production, prototyping, artistic pieces and one-offs: everything from a car part to door knobs! Just let us know what you need.
