Movies - Brooklyn, New York, US
After debuting with a program in the 1979 New York Film Festival, the nonprofit IFP has evolved into the nation’s oldest and largest organization of independent filmmakers, and also the premier advocate for them. Since its start, IFP has supported the production of 7,000 films and provided resources to more than 20,000 filmmakers’ voices that otherwise might not have been heard. IFP builds audiences by hosting screenings, often in collaboration with other cultural institutions-and also bestows the Gotham Awards™, the first honors of the film awards season. In October of 2012, IFP was named as the Operator of the Made in New York Media Center after answering an RFP issued by the NYC Economic Development Corporation and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. The Made in NY Media Center by IFP will be housed in an 18,000 square foot street-level facility at 20 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn overlooking Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Center will bring together professionals from the film, television, advertising, new media, gaming, marketing and branding industries for collaboration and new opportunities. The Media Center will offer shared working space and educational opportunities and will have an on-site screening room and full-service café. For more info, visit http://mediacenter.ifp.org/
