India Cycle Service – a "Not for Profit" organization dedicated to promote Public Cycle Sharing Services (PCSS) as a part of multimodal transportation in a city. Our goal is to enable PCSS across cities in India on a scale where it starts making a real differenceThe principle of public cycle sharing is simple; individuals use cycles on an "as needed" basis without the costs and responsibilities of cycle ownership. Over the past decades this concept has been accepted and established by various cities such as Paris, London, Hangzhou in China. With the recent developments of mass transit services such as Metro and BRTs, the population in cities like Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore etc has been significantly benefited in terms of covering larger distances in lesser time. However they face problems for their last mile commuting where they struggle daily with shared auto rickshaws, expensive auto or cycle rickshaws. The public cycle sharing services are aimed to support last mile commuting and also to provide a healthy means of transportation to the residents of cities in India. We are playing a role of an enabler through putting together the technology, system design, funding options, government policy support, etc. We have carried out market research to understand what consumers are looking for, done detailed financial modelling and developed detailed business requirements. We are in touch/ working with various concerned public and private organisations.
