Indie Tree Mission Statement Provide an affordable, safe and self-sustaining living community for adults with intellectual/development disabilities which allows residents to achieve their full potential and live as independently as possible through supported and integrated residential, vocational, recreational and social programs offered within the community. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Who do we serve?Adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities that need support to live as independently as possibleWhat else do they need?An opportunity to realize their life potential to the best of their abilities with a manageable amount of stress. Indie Tree would provide residential, vocational, and recreational programs to support this goalWhere? A place that is affordable, safe, is able to integrate them into a nearby community, and is permanent. When? In a timely and sustainable way. Steven will say "GO"Why: Adults with ID/DD need to spread their wings during the day, and have a cozy nest to return to at night. They need time to recharge their batteries from the stress of working outside their comfort zone either by relaxing alone in their room or by interacting with their friends on campus. They will also be able to establish a community living framework (peer network) that all residents will be involved in. Independence and autonomy will be enhanced by living in a campus type community that will enable them to interact with each other without a lot of constraints, but with adequate supervision. This means they can make choices for themselves about many things they cannot currently make.
