Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di Greater Manchester (PPI-GM) – otherwise known as Indonesian Student Association in Greater Manchester, was initiated in 2005 to facilitate Indonesian students in Greater Manchester to contribute actively to the improvement of both of academic and non-academic skills of its member and its surrounding. Also, PPI-GM embodies the ideas and aspirations of Indonesians living in Greater Manchester, one of the largest metropolitan and education cities in the UK. PPI-GM is part of Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di United Kingdom (PPIUK) – Indonesian Student Association in United Kingdom which is part of vast network of 45 countries, which together form Overseas Indonesian Student Association Alliance (OISAA).PPI GM has a role to support four university-based organizations: University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Salford, and University of Bolton. To date with, PPI-GM has active members of 412 people which can span up to 911 people if member's family and Indonesian citizen are taken into consideration. We are the second largest Indonesian community in Great Britain.PPI GM's programs comprises of two main sections: member empowerment and social community development. Member empowerment is done by creating regular sharing event between our member to share their expertise and thus, inspire each other. Meanwhile, social community development aims to create a platform for our member and stakeholders to work together using our combined expertise towards community development. Some of the activities include our flagship event, ICF – Indonesian Cultural Festival, which has been held successfully in three consecutive years. It is our way of presenting rich culture and heritage of Indonesia to the world.
