Development of fibrosis is associated with several disorders as well as life-style factors and affects multiple organs including the heart, liver, lungs and kidneys. Fibrosis is the formation of excess connective tissue in the affected organ, which in the end leads to organ failure. While contributing to approximately 40 percent of deaths in the industrial world, no effective anti-fibrotic drugs are available on the market. One caveat in the development of anti-fibrotic drugs is the lack of good and reliable pre-clinical models for testing of substances under development.InfiCure Bio has a unique pre-clinical model, the NIF mouse, which spontaneously develops fibrosis in multiple organs. The model is used to test the effect of anti-fibrotic substances under development. The company is based on the access to this unique pre-clinical model in combination with the inventors' expertise in the field of inflammation and fibrosis and their experience in effect testing. Tests in the NIF mouse can be done as a fee-for-service or by a licensing approach.
